- There were 7 AAA hitters last year who met the following criteria: - have not debuted - younger than 24 - above average offensive output (accounting for level of pitching seen) - >400 pitches seen To me, the most intriguing one is Drake Baldwin🧵⬇️
- Looking at things from the highest level, Baldwin looks like a lock for an above average MLB bat. These grades factor in the quality of pitching he was seeing, indicating his swing decision, contact, and power skills were all above MLB average -- not AAA.
- Baldwin's approach at the plate is super solid. He's more aggressive than average in the heart/subheart of the plate while laying off the chase/waste zones. He paired this approach with better than average whiff rates, although it's likely these increase as he reaches MLB.

View full threadI think Baldwin will still be a productive big leaguer -- especially considering he's a catcher. With that said, it's still important to dig deeper into the surface level numbers to better understand what he may struggle with, and what changes will take him to the next level.
