Historical wargamer based in Nashville, TN. Gaming anything from ancients through to moderns. Recent convert to and evangelist for all things 10mm.
- I recently moved out to the country back in home state of Virginia. It’s beautiful here but I do miss my weekly gaming club back in Nashville. Looking back on my last game at the club a couple months back. Final battle of our Roman conquest of Britannia campaign.
- 10mm imperial Romans. 3D prints from Cromarty forge. The bulk of the army was painted last summer but I have been adding some support elements over this past year.
- 10mm Ancients Briton army. 10mm 3d Prints from Cromarty Forge STLs. The chariots looks cool, but have proven a liability on the tabletop. Almost as if everybody else stopped using them in the Bronze age for a reason.
- Been taking some group shots of my 10mm ancients armies lately. First up are the Parthians.
- Making progress on my 10mm ancient Iberians. 10 bases of Scutarii and 6 bases of Caetrati. Fabulous STLs from Cromarty Forge.
- Latest update from our club’s Britannia campaign. A great battle this turn. The type of outnumbered last stand you only get in a campaign context. romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve...
- One of the Roman players last game though my custom Briton encampment far outshined his legionaries’ digs. I just couldn’t let that stand, so I had to make a more substantial Roman fort. STLs from Cromarty Forge. 10mm files printed at 70% so this thing doesn’t take up too much real estate.
- Turn three of our Britannia campaign is complete. You can find the turn summary and map here: romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve...
- Still working on the campaign website updates, but we had a great game in our Britannia campaign the other night. Roman assault on a Briton hill fort. It did not go well for the Romans.
- Turn two update on our Britannia campaign. Check the narrative out on our campaign website; romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve...
- Still a work in progress but I’m really happy with how the shields are turning out on these Cromarty Forge Iberian spearmen.
- Some siege equipment fresh off the painting table for my 10mm Romans. Age of Hannibal has a neat siege system, so the ladders and onagers will come in handy during some briton hill fort assaults during our Britannia campaign. The scorpions will see more regular use in the field.
- Turn one of our Brittania campaign is wrapped up. The Romans pushed out from their bridgehead and won a river crossing battle against the Britons. You can check out our campaign diary and the map here: romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve...
- Britannia. Oops
- Another outing for the Parthians against Imperial Romans last week using AOH. It was a close run thing but the Parthians broke the Roman morale clock in the end. Really happy with how we have dialed in the rules for the Parthians.
- Played in a huge FPW game at the club last night. The Battle of Gravelotte fought out using Bloody Bug Battles. Some beautiful and classic miniatures were on the table including some Jack Scruby figures.
- Starting up an Ancients campaign at my club to fight out the Roman Conquest of Britain. Check out our campaign website where you can find the rules and a link to the live campaign map. We will post updates to the website as the campaign progresses. romavictor4.wordpress.com
- Thanks to @battlegames.bsky.social for all of the inspiration I got from his book Wargaming Campaigns. I hope you find our efforts worthy Henry.
- Some more 10mm ancients finished off. Some Parthian/Persian spearmen, a Roman bettering ram, and some “wild charge” markers to indicate which units of ancient Britons haven’t made their first charge yet.
- One of the great things about 3D printing is how easily and cheaply I can create those useful and atmospheric tokens and markers that I would rarely shell out hobby money for in the past. Morale clock tokens (coins), impetuous charge, and out of arrows markers for Age of Hannibal.
- So begins another project. 15mm Austrians. Piano Wargames 3D prints. Loving these sculpts and I’m really happy with how the off white of the uniforms turned out. It really makes the crossbelts pop to give some visual interest to an otherwise somewhat bland uniform.
- Started working on 10mm ancients back at the end of March. Nice to step back and look at progress every once in awhile.
- Just finished up some terrain for an upcoming Roman conquest of Britain campaign using Age of Hannibal. I see some hillfort assaults in the future.
