- One year ago, our grassroots movement took its first steps. To celebrate our "birthday," we're calling for a day of action on February 14 at Tesla facilities everywhere. Find an action near you or plan one of your own! 🧵 #TeslaTakedown actionnetwork.org/event_campai...
- There’s a temptation to settle for less than abolishing ICE. The establishment certainly wants to stop at far less than abolishing ICE. But our future depends on its abolition. In Congress and in the streets we need to push harder than ever, not accept appeasement. www.jphilll.com/p/reject-app...
- This photo made me understand class in America in a way that I was unable to process before seeing it. The rich enjoy class solidarity on a level that is unimaginable to most people.
- BREAKING: Tenants across Minneapolis and Saint Paul have just launched a Twin Cities tenant union, citing the fact that their cities are under siege, and saying they need to band together to protect one another. linktr.ee/twincitieste...
- "We had one hotel publicly refuse to house ICE, which became a big national news story when DHS went after them. That’s a hotel we were targeting, and it was mostly because of our pressure. We had two more hotels temporarily shut down to avoid housing ICE..." www.laborpolitics.com/p/how-minnea...
- Firing a few key faces at the top while maintaining the the fundamental system is one of the most common appeasement tactics in history. Don't settle for Bovino. Don't settle for Noem. Don't settle for Miller. ICE must be abolished. That is the bare minimum.
- Bovino out is a great indicator. It’s a great start. But none of us can be appeased right now. It’s still abolish ICE. It’s still prosecute these fascists. It’s still destroy the whole apparatus that has been terrorizing and disappearing and murdering our neighbors.
- Say this to say, what they’re doing is one of the most common appeasement tactics. It’s a sign of weakness and should be a signal to push further, rather than sitting back.
- Americans will follow laws to protect inanimate objects without beating hearts, feelings or families, while federal agents execute them for existing in a public space with impunity.
- People at taken to Whipple are released into the cold in whatever they were wearing without their phones and IDs. Volunteers meet them at release (or find them left in parks and the woods) get them a burner, warm clothes, food, a ride home, etc (GFM in next post) www.instagram.com/reel/DTzJde9...
- Something has to give. It must. And we must make it give. We can’t tolerate people getting gunned down in the streets by ICE. We can’t tolerate kidnappings and disappearances and cities being put under siege by fascists. We have to organize and fight back. My latest: www.jphilll.com/p/we-need-yo...
- National Guard has fully arrived. Franklin and Nicollet.
- Trust absolutely nothing the Nazi regime says about their latest murder.
- Just saw footage of federal agents, either ICE or border patrol, shooting someone point blank in Minneapolis. Again. Seven of them had the man pinned down, they were beating him, then one murders him. They’re giving us no choice but to fight back like our lives depend on it.
- For Palestinians in Gaza, Phase 2 of the so-called "ceasefire" offers little hope that it will fundamentally change the status quo Israel has established over the past three months, which many refer to as "a new form of genocide." mondoweiss.net/2026/01/the-...
- I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win.
- Today is the day. Right now hundreds of Minnesota businesses and institutions are shut down. Thousands of people are refusing to work. There’s a massive picket at the airport. Minnesota’s resistance to ICE today is changing the tenor our fight against fascism. www.jphilll.com/p/the-first-...
- (My latest!)
- Twitter has totally broken multiple times this week.
- NEW: Trump has long targeted Chicago, calling it the "most dangerous city in the world." But homicides were down 30% last year, even as Trump cut crime prevention grants. What's making crime fall? Investments in community-led violence prevention programs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqIZ...
- "By disguising U.S. warplanes as civilian ones, the Pentagon makes it more likely that civilians will be harmed in the future. ... [M]aking a disguised plane visible to the targets can lull them into a false sense of security that would prevent them from taking evasive action or surrendering."
- Bluesky going to work over on Twitter
- Democrats, pay some fucking attention to this massive turn of the tide.

- I might enjoy seeing Aaron Rogers suffer a little too much
- Amen
- lol. Maybe karma is real
- BREAKING: Nearly 15,000 New York City nurses are now on strike at Mount Sinai, Montefiore, and New York Presbyterian. It's the largest nurses' strike in NYC history.
- this is why i genuinely feel it's critical, before we can ever talk about human-centered design or any supposedly positive visions of tech, for all of us to make engineers and tech companies scared of us. if there are no stakes or consequences for malicious behavior, then all this shit is cheap talk
- Fucking unreal that the fascist movement is now harassing daycares across the country.
- Speaking via translator, next man up describes his experience being pulled over by CPD and prevented from observing Border Patrol in Edgewater in December. Agents called 911 several times and lied about him trying to ram their vehicle.
- The abolition of ICE is now the bare minimum. The execution of Renee Nicole Good lays bare the necessity of a full reckoning with the systems of violence and oppression. These structures are beyond reform, they require revolution. www.jphilll.com/p/abolish-ic...
- Minneapolis.
- Two queer women with a 6 year old in school today stopped to film ICE and for their bravery ICE agents murdered one before the other’s eyes. The grief in the survivor’s voice is a knife to the gut. Destroying people and their bonds is what ICE has always done.
- NEWS: In a heartbreaking video, after ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a woman who was in the same SUV cries out: “They killed my wife. I don’t know what to do." “We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head,” the distraught woman sobs. www.advocate.com/news/minneso...
- ICE killed a member of our community today. ICE showed up at my kid’s daycare today. ICE is bragging about the number of families they’ve torn apart in a matter of days, and promising that their campaign of terror isn’t done.
- We should all sit with this ICE murder. Any one of us could be executed by ICE, and our government wouldn’t bat an eye. Instead they’d just lie about us to the world.
- Stand up, fight back. www.jphilll.com/p/the-anti-i...
- We’ve graduated from “abolish ICE is the moderate position” to “Nuremberg trials for the Trump regime and its Gestapo is the moderate position.”
- People have been fighting ICE for the last year, as well thy should. It’s time to up that organizing and resist like never before. www.jphilll.com/p/the-anti-i...
- Oh hey look, The Union Bug has its premiere today! The wonderful Chris Garlock and Harold Phillips came on the show to talk about @laborradionet.bsky.social and what it means to build media by workers, for workers. Check it out. 💪
- The U.S. attack on Venezuela is a tragic farce. The paper-thin excuse of “narco-terrorism” is meaningless, a facade that does nothing to forgive death and destruction. The truth is that the U.S. itself is an increasingly authoritarian state with no moral standing. www.jphilll.com/p/the-people...
- #OtD 4 Jan 1917 a 10-day strike of wharf workers started in Guyana against price rises. They won an increase in wages and a shorter working week, and sparked a national strike wave stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/1043...
- Hard to process this attack on Venezuela. The greatest political lesson of my youth, one that was hammered home to us all over nearly twenty years, was that the U.S. should stop engaging in regime change and oil wars. And yet, here we are again.
- Had to write about it. www.jphilll.com/p/the-people...

- "Everywhere I went in Chicago, there were community members patrolling streets, following government agents, warning victims, and pushing back any way they could — and always, the whistles around their necks, the sign you’re around allies." (via @hammerandhope.bsky.social)
- “Refuses to be controlled” is very funny for someone whose whole thing is doing whatever the oligarchs want her to do
- On a serious note it’s awful how fartlow and every hasbara clown have done tremendous work to make antisemitism increasingly meaningless on the global stage. All for their twisted defense of the indefensible Zionist project.
- I see the Panthers are being invoked. I like to remind people about what the U.S. government and local police forces did to the BPP. This recent book is useful. press.princeton.edu/books/hardco...

- Cory Doctorow : "We need to make tech workers unionized again ... because tech workers that aren't working behind a keyboard, those tech workers, they're peeing in bottles or being injured at 3x the national rate in an Amazon warehouse. That's how tech bosses treat workers they're not afraid of."

- I know so many great people who are doing so much. If you are isolated from people who are trying their best, I can understand feeling like no one's doing anything, but really, you just need to find the people who are trying and try with them — or maybe encourage some new folks to try alongside you.

- 2 Palestine solidarity activists were just seized by Israeli soldiers & armed settlers near the village of At-Tuwani in the South Hebron Hills of the occupied West Bank. Settlers from a nearby outpost stopped their vehicle on a road the activists are legally allowed to use, @masafering (X) reports.
- somehow it's "hoarding" when I keep my old tech as long as possible and resent forced obsolescence but not "hoarding" when billionaires and tech companies suck up all the money and burn though the planet in search of endless growth
- Charlie Kirk memes are everywhere. Everywhere. Is it disrespectful? Sure. Is it also a rejection of the attempt to create a fascist martyr and force him on us? I think so. www.jphilll.com/p/charlie-ki...

- “When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE. But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
