- Reposted by Senescent surgeonFor this teacher appreciation week, I’m going to talk a little about graduate medical education. What is it? It’s the education of resident and fellow physicians. These trainees have finished medical school & are doctors but need to complete residency +/- fellowship to work in their speciality.

- Excellent. Back to the days of the Tuskegee syphilis trial. If they really wanted to do a non-vaccine arm all they need to do is enroll people who refuse vaccines. And then blind the researchers. No need to assign anyone to non-treatment.
- This study is going to collect data from numerous sources including labs, pharmacies, genomics. Do patients opt in? If not how can the data be de-identified? Glad I'm not on that IRB.

- People really need to stop talking about "biological sex" as a dichotomy. If they don't understand the nuance of intersex conditions, they don't understand the issue well enough to claim any authority.

- Not having enough useful things to do, I asked Elon Musk's Grok3 to estimate Trump's weight. Here is the surprisingly reasonable answer: "...roughly between 240 and 280 pounds, leaning toward the higher end given his age (78) and less muscular frame compared to athletes."

- Interesting potential explanation for increasingly partisan politics. How do you get society to focus on facts and evidence...when some like their "alternative facts"?
- 🗣️📉 From facts to feelings in US politics Congressional speeches have shifted over 145 years – moving from evidence-based language toward intuition. This change links to more polarisation, inequality, and less lawmaking. 🔗 doi.org/10.1038/s415... #SciComm #Politics 🧪 #US
