- The most embarrassing aspect of the e-mails that Mandelson sent to Epstein while he was a Government Minister is that the British Government almost certainly had a copy of them all the time.
- The journalists telling you that Jeffrey Epstein worked for Russia are the same ones who told you that the Labour Party had a statistically significant problem with anti-Semitism.
- No doubt Mandelson will avoid jail because, well, just because. Instead he loses his peerage, which in his case is akin to a "licence to practice", i.e. rake in even more money because of whom he knows than was already the case.
- In 1973 FRG Social Democratic Chancellor Willy Brandt was forced to resign when it was revealed he had unknowingly been employing an Eastern Bloc spy in his office, Günter Guillaume. I wonder if Starmer's insistence that Epstein spied for RU rather than IL might come back and bite him on the bum.
- Difficult to say who was the bigger idiot: Keir Starmer, for offering Peter Mandelson the Washington ambassador post; or Mandelson himself for accepting it. #scrutinybites
- All the evidence I see on social media suggests that Epstein was working for the Israelis. The received wisdom in mainstream media is that he was working for the Russians. Which is right, and what does it tell us about the people saying it?
- Peter Mandelson has quit the party he epitomises: grasping, neo-liberal at home, neo-conservative abroad, contemptuous of voters, self-identifying as clever but serially and hopelessly inept.
- Peter Mandelson's dementia is immensely sad. Must be terrible to forget huge chunks of your life.
