- Delighted to get this one across the line and into #DIFF2026. It's been a mad scramble over the past month! This is the story of a city fighting for itself as a broken property market ruthlessly chews up its citizens for profit, treats homes as assets and people as obstacles to be moved out.
- Filmed over four years, Displace: The Battle For Dublin is a documentary about the trauma of developer-led change and the community resistance that follows. It's made the official selection at #DIFF2026. Screening Sun Feb 22, 13:30 at the Lighthouse Cinema. www.diff.ie/programme/di...
- On some of the more toxic social media sites there are actually people trying to turn the tragedy on Talbot St yesterday into a tool of division by yarping on about "dangerous foreign drivers." Before any condolences are ushered. Absolute bottom feeders beyond contempt.
- Trump. Endless rain. Gaza genocide. ICE. Hey, I’m starting to find comfort in the fact that this world is probably just a throwaway sketch from a never completed Octavia Butler clarion calling novel called The Time Before The Rain.
- Imagine being stuck beside Gregory Campbell at a party. A touch of class today from Catherine Connolly. www.reddit.com/r/northernir...
- There’s no serious research into the risks of high-powered LEDs here. High-viz and helmets are irrelevant if drivers are being routinely dazzled by walls of harsh white light. In fact, with normal lights attentive drivers can see pedestrian, cyclist and scooter silhouettes easily. Not with LEDs.
- The French are really throwing our handling of this whole X debacle into sharp relief. www.reuters.com/world/europe...
- Have they thought of how this will impact tourists using such services? Imagine going to any European capital, looking to zoom about a few galleries and getting pulled over and berated by the cops because you forgot to whip your helmet out of your pocket. It’s pure gombeen car brain anti-urbanism.
- And there we have it folks, having failed to do anything to halt the injury and death toll on our roads the government now plans to criminalise cycling. This will kill bike share schemes around the country. @bleeperactive.bsky.social www.thejournal.ie/e-bikes-scoo...
- Another awful Shinner bashing article that simply demands we lap up and be grateful for any auld shite thrown up by developers. Student housing is just a sub-category that allows monstrous rents with no rights and facilitates seasonal cash ins on tourists. Just build housing that works for all!
- I can’t understand the logic in selling off places like O’Devaney Gardens and delaying development at St Micheál’s until costs absolutely moon rocketed and now, looking to level spaces like the Digital Hub and here for social housing. It’s like a child playing Sim City. Willy nilly madness.
