2/19 When Cordero tried to get the word out on Epstein’s abuse, she was smeared in the New York Post as somebody who wanted to fulfill a sexual fantasy. This was a deliberate cover on the part of Epstein and his people. Cordero sued for defamation and, sadly yet unsurprisingly, she lost.

3/19 Now on what grounds did Cordero lose on specifically? The court was able re-affirm the original claim that her being a trans woman was in fact a sexual fantasy. One of the talking points this rested against was the defense refuting Cordero’s claims that the videos on her MySpace account…

4/19 …which were sexual in nature, and more specifically videos of her masturbating, was evidence of her perverted approach towards Epstein. Obviously, and I cannot express this enough, Cordero is not actually the pervert in this scenario.

5/19 However, when the verdict came out, Hamilton wrote about it as a follow-up to Gawker’s similarly defamatory, grossly transmisogynist coverage of the Epstein-Cordero story. Most of the article is a block quote from the verdict via THR, but Gawker could not help itself but continue to mock her.

6/19 Just because Gawker now has a reputation as victim of the techbro sex creep regime does not mean they didn’t want to be such types themselves. Why did they choose to also smear Cordero, when they plausibly instead could’ve worked with her in realizing there was something more to Epstein than…

7/19 …his sexual abuse and public defamation of an underage trans sex worker? Who mocked her for having the very idea of wanting to become a model just because she’s trans? Again, textbook DARVO work against Cordero for the offense of simply being an underage trans sex worker!

9/19 But this does not erase the fact that Hamilton, and other folks at Gawker, are verifiably complacent in the Epstein scandal. They thought the NYP hit-piece on Ava Cordero was funny. They were obsessed enough with it to think it’s worth writing about to similarly mock Cordero’s transsexuality.

10/19 Who’s to say that Hamilton and his ex-coworkers at Gawker still view trans people this way? How can I be certain they’ve moved on when I can’t trust them to write articles about trans people’s ongoing plight in America, let alone explicitly connect it to its other ongoing struggles?

11/19 If the answer is what I think it is (they still don’t respect transness and women enough to give a shit), that just goes to show you how willing people are to side with figures as powerful and evil as Epstein just to punish and erase a trans woman - for simply being herself.

12/19 Wherever Ava Cordero is today, I hope she’s doing well. From what else I know about her, her life has been a difficult one. But because she’s a tranny whore, she never got the honor and privilege of being known as the original Epstein whistleblower.

13/19 That is the story of many a trans woman. Chelsea Manning also comes to mind, she was the leaker whose files kicked off the Arab Spring, but Julian Assange got the credit that mattered. His residence at the Ecuadorian embassy in London can be traced back to evading rape charges.

14/19 Meanwhile, imagine all the horrors Manning had to face in dark, concrete rooms of military prison. All the abuse. All the malnourishment. All the suppression. All the lack of communication with the outside world. Wherever she is now, I similarly hope she’s doing well.

15/19 This world is as petty and cruel as it is today in part because of transmisogyny. Both from American politicians as well as British media commentators. However, American media isn’t free from this grave sin either. Even its “good guys” have been very eager to hop on that train.

16/19 It’s partly because they truly believe in nuclear family values over queerness. However, this proved to be collaborative with the right in its genocidal campaign against trans children because they largely agreed with its message. For this reason, their pushback wasn’t strong enough.

17/19 If liberal and leftist media figures want to actually gain the full, unconditional trust of trans people moving forward, they have to recognize that the reason why we’re angry reply girls is because it’s the only way we actually have any voice in the conversations about us.

18/19 The pontificating you see from them about us, about our sexual actions, about an alleged moral failure behind the reason that we transitioned at all, is just another way to suppress necessary voices from people they can only conceive of as gross annoying women. We’re beyond tired of that.
