Democracy dies in oligarchy.
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsSeriously, it shouldn't be hard to identify the other reporters in the Oval Office and to ask them why they remain silent when the president of the United States verbally attacks one of their colleagues.
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsA reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsI do not understand why every Democrat isn’t hammering away at the clear mental decline of the president. He couldn’t even get right the name of the country he’s trying to seize today on the biggest stage in the world. Everyone else is talking about it. Why isn’t the US?

- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsIf you know anything about the Vietnam War, you know why Hmong Americans are here in the US - they were US allies who risked their lives in Laos to aid the US and had to flee at the end of the war when the Pathet Lao won. Infuriating that members of their community are being targeted like this
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsI suspect 9 of 10 Americans are unaware that the Hmong are here because they aided the US in the Vietnam war, and then had to flee as refugees afterwards. Quite the “thank you” we’re giving them 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsFairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsWe are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done: A superpower is committing suicide because the GOP Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King. This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.

His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel."
- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsDemocrats need to understand that they can just say “It’s insane to threaten Greenland” and “I don’t think ICE should murder Americans in the street” and you don’t need to pretend to link it to the affordability crisis. Say bad things are bad.

- Reposted by Rebecca BurnsAFAIK, in 200 years, only 3 times did a country elect someone who had attempted a coup: - Louis Napoleon (France, 1848) - Adolf Hitler (Germany, 1933) - Hugo Chavez (Venezuela, 1998) Each one became dictator. I think we will be the first exception, but it's not something you screw around with.
- The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made
