- There's a whole other aspect, exemplified by Mandelson. The elite hung out with a paedophile, presumably because they liked it. The paedophile got something in exchange - insider trading stuff, favours, I don't know what, but *something*.
- It's especially vile that sex with children was what oiled the deals, but if it had been something as straightforward as cash, it'd still be corrupt. How did Epstein get to be so rich and well connected? It's not like Weinstein, who owned a film studio.
- As far as I can see, Epstein MO was to get close to the rich and powerful, then trade favours between them. It's really scary that the people at the top of our society could be bought with such currency, it's also scary to speculate on what might have been sold.
- Skim-read a copy of The Times today in dentist’s waiting room and God, it’s a poor product these days. Reminds me of the Telegraph back when Private Eye used to call it the Hellograph. Almost whole of Op Ed page given over to Melanie Phillips whanging on, and Giles Bloody Coren.
- Only serious article (and subject of 1st Leader) an article arguing that France is heading for “3rd World status” (sic) evidenced by an assessment of GDP per capita (measured by local purchasing power) at 98, where 100 = EU average. UK score? 99
- Much gloating disguised as hand-wringing that on these trends Poland will overtake France. Fact that on same information Poland will shortly overtake UK of some interest to UK readers, you might think): tumbleweed.
- Score for Italy: also 98. No comment. I’m going to suggest that might not be so if Meloni was leader of France and Macron was leader of Italy.
