- I've had several messages arrive for me this morning that make me feel like a real, grown up professor 😭 which is so rare 😭😭 especially these days. Thank you, friends, who read my work and think of me!

- We have a family of pigeons that live on our bathroom windowsill in an air shaft and they're talking a lot this morning
- Last winter was so warm in NYC that they laid eggs in February, I hope that doesn't happen this year!!
- Reposted by Danya GlabauNo joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
- Reposted by Danya GlabauWe wrote a whole paper on this in 2017, on the women who often leave the field sciences as their only route to get away from harassment anthrosource.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...

- Ms Four discovered the 2012 hit Call Me Maybe which is mainly taking me back to the year a therapist convinced me to stop drinking coffee in February of the year I was doing my qualifying exams and my life nearly fully imploded
- I usually try, and succeed, to forget that year 😬
- Oh god, I found a teaching slide from 2018 titled "Eradication work-in-progress: Polio" and I don't think you could probably say that about polio anymore
- Oh, the WHO is actually hopeful about eradication! That's one single good piece of news
- I am so impressed by myself doing actual writing today! But now it's time for course prep
- Not me calling tech bros illiterate in a piece for publication (we'll see if it gets through)
- Big news in Brooklyn that the school parent group chat is organizing around: a new Space Club just opened.

- Reposted by Danya GlabauFriends in the NYC area: This promises to be FANTASTIC. I am otherworldly bummed that I can’t be there to meet & commune irl with @thetattooedprof.bsky.social, Lisa, & others whom I admired from afar before having the joy and honor of working w/ them on The Campus Crisis Toolkit. Go go go!
- On February 20 we'll host two events @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social to celebrate the upcoming release of _The Campus Crisis Toolkit_ (SUNY Press). @thetattooedprof.bsky.social and Lisa Di Bartolomeo will be joining us for a day of reflection, connection, and solidarity.
- What’s happening on mom and body acceptance online forums where I lurk with GLP-1s is very not good. Apparently, for example, feeling like you have to eat after lifting weights is a disease called “food noise” that is cured by GLP-1s.
- Doctors, patients and researchers are at the very beginning of understanding how the new class of obesity drugs interact with eating disorders. n.pr/4rqB1G5
- For my next sewing project, I will take a simple pattern, and make it complicated (I call this, sewing with a PhD)
- If this works well I might have to make a few using the same idea
- It is an attempt to modify a cheap pattern to replicate a long-sleeve cotton t-shirt that retails for TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS so if it takes a couple tries to get right I'm still coming out ahead
- Reposted by Danya GlabauGramsci once observed "the old is dying and the new struggles to be born; in this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear," and I'm not sure there would be any better encapsulation of our society's comorbidities than this headline.
- Reposted by Danya GlabauWith the awful WaPo layoffs and the state of journalism more broadly, if it's useful for any writers and reporters considering going indy, @molly.wiki, @xoxogossipgita.bsky.social of Aftermath, @jasonkoebler.bsky.social of 404 Media, @edzitron.com and me will do a little workshop next week.
- Moltbook is the best evidence yet that people outsourcing their personal tasks to AI are marks.
- The Matrix happens because some programmers needed mommy to make dinner and do laundry for them.
- It's that time again, time for what's become my favorite book to teach
- It's obviously a great book in STS, but it's also such a transparent discussion of how feelings toward your vocation can change during a career in science that I find it so valuable for students at the engineering school
- Reposted by Danya GlabauMeta now forcing all employees to use AI tools and tying it to employee performance, according to @theinformation.com. HR said "this is not an activity tracker—it’s an impact-evidence starter" That's a fun way to rebrand workplace surveillance.
- Reposted by Danya Glabau🚨Calling all anthropologists who love sport, study sport, play sport, and/or write about sport. It’s time for a topical interest group focused on sport to bring us together in conversation and collaboration. If you’re interested in forming a TIG, please let me know. It only takes 10 of us to start.🚨
- It's done, first wear scheduled for Friday
- Ok finally finishing this jumpsuit. Has been very difficult, much redoing, partly due to the pattern and partly due to trying to finish the details in denim 😩

- Reposted by Danya Glabau"It's better than nothing" No, it isn't. Providing an inferior treatment complicates and introduces harms
- Reposted by Danya Glabau"but it will give poor, underseved people access!" Yes. Access to poor treatment!!
- Reposted by Danya GlabauOnce again, it is *unethical* to provide people with inferior treatments when you know a better, more effective one exists

- There are certain questions, namely, why is the floor wet? that are simply not something you want an answer to in a household with a small child and a dog. 😩
- Dunno if it's better or worse that it was Palantir rather than bespoke Doge
- SCOOP: Palantir's AI has been deployed at HHS since last March to audit grants, grant applications, & job descriptions for anything related to "DEI" or "gender ideology" The goal was to ensure compliance with 2 of Trump's executive orders: www.wired.com/story/hhs-is...
- In case anyone is wondering how the Year of Crafts is going, here's the jumpsuit I started making over the weekend! I have to cut it up and reduce the torso length by 3-4", got hit by Australian pattern sizing here, the crotch is literally at my knees. The grading on the leg width also sucks for me
- Very soft 8oz indigo denim that is worth the trouble, though
- If anyone is wondering: US sizing is relatively equal top/bottom width with mid length torso, Canadian clothes are wayyyyy wider on the shoulders than hips, Australian sizing is for women who are 5'11" and all torso, British sizing is closest for me with shorter torso and wider hips

- Reposted by Danya GlabauI’ve found it fascinating to watch over the past few years, as all humanities + social science disciplines have been forced to grapple with the politics of technology, so many are reinventing arguments media studies and STS have been making for decades :)
- It's Flashback Friday at school so we dressed Ms Four in a plaid dress and taught her to say, "as if!"
- I probably shouldn't say anything and jinx it, but it was nice to actually have a day (today) where I actually did some of the the actual work: writing, reflecting, reviewing how the week's classes went, and prepping for next week
- I have 4 separate little collabs working on theory buildings in feminist STS right now, touching on not only STS, but also engineering and design. SO FUN. Need more time to write!!!
