- Authors - There sure are a lot of AI scammers reaching out to us re: book clubs. Some seem very legit. The first thing I ask is "Will you be asking me to pay a fee?" and their response is always "No of course not. Authors are never asked to pay a fee." So, I'm just directing them to my publisher.
- I'm also just replying: you are always welcome to recommend any author's books to bookclubs and invite any author to author talks. We're usually excited to participate. Like I don't get the whole AI "can I have your permission to recommend your *wonderful book* to book clubs" thing?
- But just to play it safe, I'm letting my publisher handle it. They can screen out the scammers.
