It makes me a little sad that people treat bookstores as solitary experiences. If you see me lingering in the sci fi section I WANT to hear about your reading interests or your crazy recommendations and I WILL tell you all about the trash on my shelf.
And since this is one of my primary hobbies I can confidently say that it's a "skill" that benefits from practice like anything else. The more you read, the more enjoyment you'll get out of it!
