- Speaking of alt-weeklies, yes
- There is a sublime joke about getting sent to Cannes in here that I felt down to my toes
- 👀
- New from 404 Media: the FBI has been unable to get into the iPhone of raided Washington Post journalist because the phone had Lockdown Mode enabled. Apple markets Lockdown Mode mostly to stop spyware like NSO. Here, a real world example of it stopping access too www.404media.co/fbi-couldnt-...
- I didn’t know about this — looks like it’s newish support.apple.com/en-us/105120
- They kinda make these sound like EXTREME MEASURES but most of them sound like common sense?
- Today I said to my students, horrifyingly, “So these are some tools to keep in your toolbox if you feel like your draft is kind of greige.” The Melania sponcon movie has incepted itself into my brain
- Here’s a GoFundMe that the @postguild.bsky.social has organized to support laid-off colleagues, which I learned about through @timesguild.bsky.social colleagues ✊ www.gofundme.com/f/standing-t...

- This is by design.
- Shutting down (the stellar) books coverage at WaPo is a real telling move when your owner is literally Jeff Bezos
- Disney has moved into a new generation of leadership and you can tell because they’ve gone from Bobs to Joshes
- From here, they’ll go to Matts or, possibly, Ryans
- My feeling is that if you’re going to get AI to write your fictional social media post scenarios, you should know which generation’s slang to prompt the chatbot with. “Hot black coffee” is a cute touch, though. Very identity indicator inflected.
- If you troll around LinkedIn in particular, you can tell who’s better at this than others. (Almost nobody on LinkedIn actually writes their own posts, from what I can tell.)
