Brady | United Against Gun Violence
We are uniting Americans from coast to coast, red and blue and every color, to end gun violence. Led by @KrisBrown.bradyunited.org.
- Trayvon Martin should be celebrating his 31st birthday today. Instead, he was shot and killed when he was just 17. His killer never faced accountability because of Florida's racist Stand Your Ground law that is STILL in place. We must honor him with action to #DisarmHate
- 🚨 Earlier today, the House passed a funding bill that includes $25M for gun violence research, $30M for suicide prevention, and gives Congress 2 weeks to reach a deal on changes to rein in ICE's unchecked violence before DHS funding is approved. There's more work to be done, but this is a WIN.
- Today is the first day of Black History Month — a time to honor the contributions and reflect on the experiences of Black individuals and communities in the U.S., including those impacted by gun violence and who have fought to end its devastating impact on Black communities.
- Last weekend in Minneapolis, another killing was captured on camera. The video spread quickly. For many people, moments like this are shocking — and then they pass. But for survivors of gun violence, there is no moving on. https://bit.ly/45JABlT
- As Brady's Josh Scharff tells @thetrace.org - with current ATF resources, many gun dealers go a decade+ without federal oversight. And under Pres. Trump, the agency has experienced and been threatened with cuts to resources, regulations, and staffing, which, in turn, threatens public safety.
